Ngware Bicycle Taxi Group, Kisumu, Kenya
Ngware Bicycle Transport Group pioneered the business of organised bicycle taxi services in Kisumu, Kenya. The Group started in 1990 and was officially registerd in 1994 by the Departmentof social services.The main objectives were creating employment and to facilitate access to education and health services among members and families etc. Inspite of many hurdles,it has competed reasonably with other transport service providers in the town by being effective, efficient and affordable alternative transport. It is also accessible, reliable and non-air polluting. The business has created employment to a great good number both in Kisumu and environs and also in neighbouring towns.
On 17th February, the group will be celebrating its 15th anniversary. The celebrations will include
offering of gifts to orphans and families of members who died from HIV/Aids and also to members
who lost their jobs due to accidents.
