IFRTD Research Intern Vacancy
The International Forum for Rural Transport and Development is recruiting for a Research Intern to focus on Website Content.
The International Forum for Rural Transport and Development (IFRTD) is an international network of individuals and organisations who work together to promote the urgent need for appropriate, sustainable and widespread improvements to rural transport in developing countries, in order to achieve poverty reduction.
IFRTD achieves its Mission to improve policies and practices in transport operations, infrastructure, and access and service provision, through dialogue, information sharing, capacity building, research and advocacy.
The work of the IFRTD network is supported by an international secretariat consisting of an Executive Director, an Editor and Communications Coordinator and a Network and Events Coordinator based at IFRTD’s London office; and four Regional Coordinators, based in Latin America, West and Central Africa, Eastern and Southern Africa and Asia and the Pacific.
In 2009, IFRTD, which had previously been hosted by a large UK based international development NGO, became an independent organisation and entered an exciting phase in its development. In the last month IFRTD launched a new website, and it is for this reason that IFRTD would like to recruit a Research Intern to support the Secretariat in researching and collating country specific information for the site. The Research Intern will need excellent research abilities and an interest in and understanding of International Development issues and the International Development sector.
The Research Intern will be expected to work for two days a week for a period of three months starting in March 2010, with the possibility that this period will be extended. In addition, there is a possibility that one of the two days each work can be worked remotely. IFRTD is able to reimburse the Intern with London based travel expenses and will provide a lunch allowance.
For more details of the skills and experience required to apply for this internship, and for information about what you can expect from IFRTD, please refer to the Internship Outline and Internship Protocol documents below.
